Michel Drapeau, founder & sound designer
Michel Drapeau has founded Sonarte in 2006. He draws on his vast experience of musical composition and digital audio technologies to create unique virtual instruments that offer astonishing sounds, recorded according to the highest standards of quality and specifically tailored for music amateurs and professionals in search of unusual and innovative digital sample collections.
Michel Drapeau is a professional percussionist (first prize of the Montreal Music Conservatory). A former member of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and cofounder of the reputed Répercussion ensemble, he has invented many percussion instruments. A pioneer of digital audio sampling, Michel Drapeau is also a well-known composer who has created many musical pieces and soundtracks for theatre, dance, cinema, television and multimedia performances or installations. Several of his works for avant-garde theatre and dance groups have earned him national and international recognition.
Michel Basque, producer and sound designer
Michel Basque joined Sonarte in 2008 to assist in the development and sound design of digital audio sound banks, allowing the “recreation” of organic natural sounds. As a professional composer and songwriter, he has been involved in computer based music and digital audio technologies from the early 80’s.
